Expert bio

Dr Emma Searle trained in medicine at the University of Manchester and gained an MA in Medical Ethics (Ethics of Cancer and Palliative Care) from Keele University in 2007 beginning specialist training in Haematology in the same year.

Dr Searle was awarded a Cancer Research UK-AstraZeneca PhD fellowship in 2010. On completion of her PhD in 2016, Dr Searle was appointed as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer at the University on Manchester to further develop her research interests alongside completion of clinical training.

Dr Searle was appointed as a consultant haematologist at The Christie Hospital in August 2020. She specialises in the set up and delivery of early phase clinical trials, including first in human trials, for patients with haematological malignancies. Dr Searle has a particular interest in the development of early phase clinical trials for older patients with blood cancer and is an active member of the national Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre Haematology Network Group.
