Joaquin Martinez-Lopez specialized in hematology at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, Madrid, Spain obtaining his license in 1997. In 2016, he became head of the Hematology Department at this institution and in 2018 he became a professor at the same University. He joined the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) in November of 2014 to lead the Hematological Malignancies Research Unit. In the last 15 years he has contributed to the publication of more than 300 articles in international peer-reviewed journals. He has presented more than 700 abstracts at scientific meetings. As a clinical researcher, he is director of the phase I clinical trials program in hematology of Hospital 12 de Octubre, he has been a principal investigator in more than 100 clinical trials, and 40 phase I clinical trials. His most recent activities have been focused on measurable residual disease and on novel advances in therapeutics for multiple myeloma and leukemia.
