Expert bio
José Pedro Carda is a Hematologist at Coimbra University Hospital. He’s qualified in Medicine from Medicine School in Coimbra University in 2006 and specialized in hematology at the same hospital in 2012. Dr Carda has a special interest in lymphoproliferative disorders and is responsible for the institutional guidelines for management of patients with CLL.
He is investigator and co-investigator of several multicentric clinical trials for chronic lymphoproliferative disorders treatment and his research interests include the role of oxidative stress and epigenetics in development and in mechanisms of resistance to chemoimmunotherapy in patients with CLL. He is also a consultant in the Infectious Disease Unit for patients with HIV infection and blood disorders.
Between 2014 and 2018 Dr. Carda was a board member of the Clinical Hematology Specialty College of Portuguese Medical Order. He is a member of the Portuguese Lymphoma Group and since 2017 he is Secretary-General of the Directive Council of the Portuguese Society of Hematology.
