Professor Ruth Clifford is a Consultant Haematologist at University Hospital Limerick (UHL) since November 2016. Her clinical practice is in malignant haematology, in particular, the care of patients with lymphoid malignancies and is the clinical lead for chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
Ruth was awarded a Cancer Research UK Fellowship to undertake a PhD at the University of Oxford. Her doctoral research focused on the applications of Next Generation Sequencing Technologies in Leukaemia. She has published with numerous UK and European CLL groups. Ruth is the Director of the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit at UHL and the lead for Clinical Cancer Research at UHL. She is a core member of the new Limerick Digital Cancer Research Centre with a vision to future proof cancer patient data and diagnostics for the region with national and international reach. Ruth is the co-chair of the Haematology and Lymphoma sub-group of Cancer Trials Ireland clinical trial network.
