Dr. Enrique M Ocio is Head of the Hematology Department of the
University Hospital “Marqués de Valdecilla” in Santander, Cantabria, Spain. Following
his residency in hematology and PhD, Dr Ocio enjoyed a one-year post-doctoral position
at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard University, USA. He combines his
role as a physician, coordinating the Clinical Trials Unit of the department
and the Phase I Trials Unit of the hospital, with his research in the Cancer
Research Center of the University of Salamanca where he is responsible for the
New Drugs Development Unit in Hematologic Malignancies.
Dr Ocio has published over 100 original papers in international journals.
His main areas of interest are the biology of multiple myeloma and other haematological
malignancies and the development of novel antitumoral drugs.
